The Open Technologies 3D scanners are systems provided of an optical head with up to 4 cameras that are able to acquire the three-dimensional shape of an object in a few seconds and with precision. The final result of the three-dimensional scanning is obtained through a single integrated processing environment that manages STL meshes and point clouds. 3D digitizing process means a set of operations that, starting from a physical object, allow to obtain a digital description of the same object. The first 3D scanning technique developed is based on direct contact with the object: an analog probe of known diameter moves onto the surface of the workpiece, and acquires the points of the same surfaces on the basis of the suffered deflections. With this process, the scanning times are very long and the contact with the object may deform the sample compromising the goodness of fit (for example in silicone objects). Recently, optical scanning methods have emerged. The principle of their behaviour consists in projecting on the object a blade or a point of light and, according to the deformation undergone by the light on the target surface, a three-dimensional model is reconstructed. This particular measurement principle has significant advantages over the probe method.

· non-invasiveness: the instrument operates without the need for contact with the surface, so you can measure soft or delicate objects;   

· high acquisition parallelization: with a single measurement, hundreds of thousands points are obtained simultaneously ;

· high reconfigurability: through a quick calibration procedure is possible to prepare the instrument in the most appropriate configuration to operate with a particular surface;

·         low cost of maintenance: no special care is required for the use of the machine, there's an easy way to recalibrate the instrument in a few moments through the use of a master;

·      very wide applicability: the application fields are very diversified and range from industry, art up to the medical science.

Raspberry Pi 2 can be considered as a computer in every respect, although its dimensions are smaller than the palm of a hand, with its software and its user interface. It is a single board computer or a computer implemented on a single electronic card that can be used for the most varied purposes. With a Raspberry Pi 2 you can do everything. The most obvious applications are the following, but there is obviously huge space for the imagination: - various kinds servers (web, FTP, NAS, ...)
- Media center
- Regular computer (able to run properly modified Linux distributions; i.e. Debian, Fedora, Arch Linux, Gentoo, FreeBSD, ...)

Arduino is a low-cost programmable hardware platform, with which you can create circuits "almost" of all kinds for many applications, especially in the field of robotics and automation. It is based on a microcontroller ATMEL, the ATMega168 / 328: for example the Arduino Uno features a ATMega328. Born in Ivrea, in 2005, the brainchild of a college professor, an electronics engineer, Massimo Banzi, who decided to create a platform for their students, so as to facilitate them in interaction design studio. It was a complete success, to the point of pushing the engineer to make this platform, Open Source (actually Open Hardware) that you can find on the official website www.arduino.cc, circuits, components and even the instructions for it on their own. What should interest actually are circuit diagrams: being Open, and then be viewed by all, with the peripheral interface can be continuously improved by the community and thanks to them have been developed an incredible number of software libraries that make it really easy for any type. It was a group of students of the Faculty of Engineering to write to the library, the IDE (portable library on any operating system) and the first API; Thanks to these pre-engineers, Arduino program still so fluid, simple and very intuitive.
